Note from Our Elders

Note from Our Elders

As elders of this flock we desire to fulfill the Biblical teaching by being the overseers who have been given the responsibility for the spiritual nurturing of each member of this church (Acts 20:28). We do not "lord it over" the church as a boss or ruler might, but rather our authority is derived from what is freely and willfully given us by each member that is to co-work, co-serve, and worship under our leadership.

As elders we humbly endeavor to represent those qualities the reader will find in 1 Timothy 3:1-7 and Titus 1:5-9, with God being our enabler to meet those qualities. Our responsibility is cheerfully met and those children of God who have called us out from among them to become their elders make our task easy.

The elders meet each Sunday afternoon at 3:00 p.m. for the purpose of planning for the care and feeding of this congregation. We are available to meet with members at any time. We conduct frequent listening sessions to consider input from the flock. Our goal is to guide, counsel, and nurture so that each member may grow ever increasingly into the likeness of Jesus Christ, our Savior and Head Shepherd.

You are invited to join us as people dedicated to honoring Jesus Christ as the Head of this church. Please ask any of us for assistance in becoming a Christian or member of the Decatur Church of Christ.

Sincerely,

The Decatur Church of Christ Elders
