The Burden Became a Bridge

Monday, September 28, 2015

Recently I used the following illustration on a Wednesday night during the devotional. Several asked for a copy. Here it is - A biologist tells how he watched an ant carrying a piece of straw which seemed to be a burden to it. The ant came to a crack in the ground too big for it to cross. It stood for a time and pondered the situation, then he put the straw across the crack and walked over. What a lesson for us! THE BURDEN BECAME A BRIDGE. Our burdens can sometimes become a bridge if we endeavor by God's help to live as He instructs us in His word.

Paul's Outlook on Life!

Thursday, September 10, 2015

QUESTION: What's your outlook on life? The answer to this question will, for the most part, identify your attitude! Consider the following from the Life of Paul...

LESSON: Paul’s Outlook on Life!
TEXT: “Christ shall be magnified in my body, whether it be by life, or by death” (Philippians 1:20).
1. Chapter One: The INWARD look (1:21-23). Paul’s “desire” was to be with Christ, which was “far better!”
2. Chapter Two: The BACKWARD look (2:1-5). Paul’s instruction was to have the mind of Christ!
3. Chapter Three: The UPWARD look (3:13-14). Paul’s practice was to “press toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus,” because “our citizenship is in heaven” (3:20).
4. Chapter Four: The FORWARD look (4:13). Paul’s contentment was strengthened by the knowledge of doing “all things through Christ.”

A great endeavor is to develop a godly outlook on life. Paul is a prime pattern for life and living.
